What is comprehensive and collision coverage?

Part 3 of our auto insurance series! We’ve covered liability and uninsured/underinisured motorists coverage. Now, we’re finally talking about coverage for your vehicle!

If purchased, collision coverage covers damage sustained to your vehicle in the event that you collide with something. That something could be a tree, another car, a building, etc.

Comprehensive coverage, on the other hand, covers damage sustained to your vehicle by things other than collision. The auto policy broadly defines this, but many collision claims we see are caused by flooding, lightning strike, hail, a rock cracking your windshield while driving, etc.

Both of these coverages are subject to your deductible, which means you’re responsible for a portion of the repair costs.

If you’d like me to review your coverage and provide a proposal with my recommended coverages and deductibles, reach out at savannah@mappusinsurance.com or through my contact form here!
